Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Red Door BuyBack, operated by KT Electronics ("we", "us"), collects, uses and shares information when you visit reddoorbuyback.com, text or message us, visit our store at 1191 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95116, or sell us a device by mail.

Text messaging and your mobile information

We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number or text messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except with the service providers that deliver our messages (such as our messaging provider, Twilio), and only so they can do that.

When you text us (including messages over SMS, MMS or RCS), we receive your phone number, the content of your messages, and any photos you send. We use them only to answer your request: quoting your device, arranging a drop-off or mail-in, sending shipping labels and updates, and confirming payment. Information we collect

  • Contact details: name, phone number, email address, and mailing address (for mail-in labels and returns).
  • Messages and photos: the texts, direct messages and photos of devices you send us by text, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook Messenger.
  • Device details: make, model, condition, and identifiers such as IMEI or serial numbers, which we use to price the device and confirm it is not reported lost, stolen or blacklisted.
  • Payout details: the Zelle, Venmo or PayPal handle you choose for payment. We do not collect bank account or card numbers.
  • In-store sale records: when you sell to us in person, California law for secondhand dealers may require us to record your name, address, government-issued ID and a description of the item, and to report the transaction to local law enforcement.
  • Website usage: our site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page visits without cookies and without tracking you across other sites. If you arrive from one of our flyers or links, a source code (for example "flyer-half") may be added to the text message your phone prepares, so we know which ad you saw.

How we use it

  • To give you a quote, buy your device, pay you, and ship labels or returns.
  • To reply to your messages. Our first replies come from an automated AI quote assistant, and a person on our team can take over the conversation at any time.
  • To prevent fraud and comply with the law, including secondhand-dealer reporting.
  • To understand which of our ads and flyers work, using the source codes described above.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the business, and only what they need:

  • Twilio: delivers our text messages.
  • Meta (WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger): delivers messages you send us on those apps.
  • Google: processes message content to power our AI quote assistant.
  • Shipping providers (USPS, Pirate Ship): create mail-in and return labels.
  • Payment apps (Zelle, Venmo, PayPal): send your payout.
  • Cloudflare: hosts this website and provides privacy-friendly analytics.

We also disclose information when the law requires it, such as reporting secondhand purchases to law enforcement or responding to a valid legal request. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your data on devices you sell us

Please back up your data and sign out of iCloud, Google and other accounts before you sell. Either way, we wipe every device we buy before it is resold or recycled. We do not access, copy or keep personal content we find on a device.

How long we keep it

We keep message history and transaction records only as long as needed to serve you, resolve disputes and meet legal requirements. Secondhand-dealer records are kept for the period California law requires.

Your choices and rights

  • Stop texts: reply STOP to (669) 629-4611 at any time.
  • Access, correct or delete: text or call (669) 629-4611, or write to us at the address below, and ask us to review, correct or delete your information. We'll respond within 30 days. We may keep records the law requires us to keep.
  • California residents: you can request the categories of personal information we have disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not make such disclosures.
  • Do Not Track: our site does not track you across other sites, so it treats all visitors the same whether or not a Do Not Track signal is sent.

Children

Our services are for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly buy from, or collect information from, anyone under 18.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, and we limit access to the people on our team who need it. No system is perfectly secure.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. Material changes will be posted on this page before they take effect.
